Ready to offer Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans for contract year 2024?
The AHIP Medicare + Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training opens on June 21, 2023. Here's what you need to know about the AHIP and how much it'll cost you.
Note: The 2024 AHIP opens on June 21, 2023. The 2023 AHIP closes on June 16, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET. No training will be available from June 17-June 20. Make sure you are taking the correct year's AHIP so you don't take the AHIP twice.
What Is AHIP?
America's Health Insurance Plans, or AHIP, is a national association whose members provide health care coverage, services, and solutions to hundreds of millions of Americans every day. Tens of thousands of industry professionals rely on AHIP to provide first-class advocacy, education, and information on our changing health care system (AHIP.org).
Over 100,000 agents and brokers take their Medicare + Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training with AHIP. Their training program meets CMS requirements, and it's the industry’s most widely recognized MFWA training platform.
While AHIP is technically the association that offers the MFWA training, most of us in this industry call that training and exam the AHIP.
How Much Does the AHIP Cost?
The MFWA training with AHIP costs $175, and it's an annual training, so you'll need to pay this fee and complete the training and exam every year.
That said, many insurance carriers offer a discount link, which can get you $50 off the course fee. It's not a promo code or coupon code, but the special promotional link will automatically apply that $50 discount.

Who Needs to Take the AHIP?
Any agent who wants to sell Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plans needs to take the AHIP.
Training for plan year 2024 opens up on June 21, 2023. If you plan to offer MA, MAPD, and/or PDPs during the Annual Enrollment Period this fall, you'll need to take the AHIP on or after June 21st.
Conclusion
Our team plans to take the AHIP right away, and we'll be publishing a short article about our experience. If there are any big changes this year compared to last year's, we'll let you know!
