In the past, Republicans believed that the first dollar coverage of Plan F increases utilization. Their thinking seems to be that having great coverage for a senior is causing over-utilization. After a two-year independent study ordered by congress, its findings proved that first dollar coverage does not cause for Medicare beneficiaries to over utilize Medicare services.
I do not believe this issue is going away. Therefore, now is one of the best times to consider Plan G Medicare Supplements. Plan G is experiencing the lowest rate increases of all plans. My only fear is the Part B deductible going up significantly in the future.
We are keeping an eye on what lobbyists are saying about Washington, but I encourage you to write your Congressmen and Senators on how you feel about their plans.
